Peregrine Falcon

Its the tenth week which means it is time for the fifth week bird special.

The Peregrine Falcon is a very special animal. These birds are the Mascot of the United States Air Force, they are the fastest animal on earth by far with special capabilities. This bird is one of the coolest animals around and is a close second to my favorite animal the white bengal tiger.

These birds fly up to very high altitudes only to swoop down twice as fast as the fastest baseball pitch, even 3 times as fast ast the high way speed limit. These birds do an aerial dive at over 220 miles per hour. That is CRAZY! That speed creates this animal to be such a neat specimen.

Thanks to animals.nationalgeographic.com  and  lloydspitalnikphotos.com for their amazing photos of these birds!

The Koala Bear

Koala Bears are definitely the cutest type of bear out there! I used to always want one of these creatures when i was younger but I had to settle with a dog. Koala bears are not ferocious like other bears, they aren't even in the bear specie!! These animals live in the woodlands of Australia. The translation of their name, Koala, interestingly is doesnt drink because they seem to live off nearly no water!

These furry ear'd creatures walk on four legs on the ground and are great climbers, that is why they love the woodlands so much. They feed off of tree leaves and fruits which makes it very easy to maintain their diets in captivity considering they are on the threatened species list because their are so few of them in the wild.

Thanks to my sources for the great pictures of these cute Koalas!

American Turkey

This weeks animal, of course is the DELICIOUS turkey! Thanksgiving it is an American tradition to gobble down on some roasted, fried or however you prefer it! I prefer to deep fry it in some peanut oil and of course with some mashed potatoes and gravy. I have eaten it many other ways but this is always the best.

Turkeys are native really only to the United States which is a very good think because us americans LOVE turkey! These birds could have been the national bird but it was voted against and beaten out by the Bald eagle.

They are only about 5 kg. in weight but seem to be much larger because of their vast thick feathers they have on their bodies.

Americans have gladly taken these turkeys down and feasted upon them but lead them near to endangered species. that had to have strict laws to reintroduce them to the wild.

Im glad it worked because thanksgiving would not be the same without that delicious turkey breast!

Snow Leopard

The Snow Leopard is home to central asia, but you will not find them so easily as they are very rare with only about 6,000 left in the wild. they are very dangerous game that are hunted for the beautiful warm fur and their organs that are used in traditional chinese medicine. These powerful animals would surely win any track meet being able to jump over 50 feet! These endangered wonders weigh from 60 to 120 pounds standing around 4 feet tall.

These creatures of the mountains are on the decline, partly their own fault, they have taken a liking to domesticated animals and have wondered into villages only to be killed by villagers. These beautiful animals roam their lands with such force and power, they seem to always be in control and are at the top of the food chain.

The Snow Leopard has been around for a long time and they are losing their numbers very fast. Endangered species are under attack from criminals that need to be stopped. I like these animals because of the fight they have and their appearance in nature. There location stands out because they are able to hunt so efficiently and take down hard to see animals to survive. They certainly are a wonder to this earth.

The Seal

Seals are members of the pinniped family, they are very well suited for their watery environment. With bodies that help them glide very fast through the water, eyes that see very accurate underwater, ear passages and nostrils that clamp shut while underwater, and blubber that can keep them warm during the cold times or just in below freezing temperature waters. They are considered to be the acrobats of the sea.

Seals grow up and mature into so many different looks and sizes, kinda like humans. They have a very unique appearance with their bodies and skin. Some seals can weigh 5 and a half tons! all types of seals are very cool in their ways of being unique. They can be big and lumbering, or tiny and super agile.

Week 5 Bird Special!

Its, the fifth week, that means that we go to our animals in the sky for your animal of the week! I will do this every fifth week.
This weeks Bird is the Toco Toucan!

The toucan is a beautiful weird bird! These colorful creatures live in the rainforest region of South America. They are pretty small birds with a massive beak (7.5 inches) have become famous over the years because of their colorful beaks. the beaks are mode of bone but are actually very fragile and not very useful except for pecking its food and eating it. They can also snack on some small birds and lizards.

These birds are not very powerful or fast, but they live to be about 20 years, but I find them pretty interesting in what they do (play a game like a pitcher pitching to a batter) and just how beautiful their beaks are made and look!
Stay tuned for another animal next week!

White Bengal Tiger

The White Bengal has been one of my favorite animals. The way they look and their nature in the world has always fascinated me. The Bengal tiger is already on the endangered species list while the White bengal tiger is even more scarce.
These gracious animals have the scientific name Panthera Tigris who live mostly live in the Indian forests and lush grasslands.

They feed on varieties of meat 5 days a week and gnaw on bones for 2 days. They can grow to be 2.5 meters long and weigh a staggering 300 kilograms. The looks of these beautiful creatures are there for a reason, the stripes you see identify them because none are the same on any 2 tiger. Oddly enough the Bengal tiger is one of the only feline species to enjoy and actually LOVE water.

They are carnivores with a loud roar. They hide in tall grass by the camouflage of their stripes. the rarity of these births is only common in 1 of 10,000 births which is rare because the population of tigers is very low. These majestic creatures stand tall in the world as a sign of purity and strength!
Stay tuned next week for a new animal of the week!

Three-Toed Sloth

The Sloth is probably one of the most interesting mammals on earth. Not only do they have three finger like claws on each hand, they are also the slowest animal on earth. They spend their lifes hiding and lounging in the tree tops but some times move around the ground searching for fallen foods. an algae grows on their skin to give them a greener look that is very useful camouflage for them.

Sloths hang around in trees, amazingly their grip is so powerful some have been dead and still hang on to the branches. Spending their tme up there they dont have to do much, spending around 20 hours of the day sleeping, thats pretty lazy. Sloths love the trees so much they even give birth up there, their babies are even known to hang on to their moms for the first 9 months.

If they have fallen on the ground, a sloths back legs are so weak they are useless. They have to use their front legs to dig into the ground and pull them forward. Sloths remain motionless for long periods of time as a form of self defense! these sloths move so slow they usually move around 40 meters each day.

These are one of the oddest animals i have come across researching, there are definitely others, what would you thing are possibly the weirdest land creatures that have some weird facts about them?

The Puffin

The puffin is indiginous to the northern parts of the Atlantic Ocean. Living on both sides of the waters. These small flying penguins have an average height of 10 inches and only weigh 17.5 oz. surprising enough these small animals are carnivores! Being able to dive into the waters at a depth of 200 feet to catch their fish! They practically "fly" through the water flapping their wings as they do in the air.

During their life that usually lasts about 20 years. They spend most of their life at sea resting on the ocean waves swimming. but when in flight they flap their wings at 7 times a second. This leads to a stunning speed of 55-60 miles per hour in propelled flight!

Thanks for keeping up with these random animals! stay tuned next week for the new animal, the sloth!

The Husky

This beautiful Husky is very suited for the snow because of its long thick fur. They are independent in nature which keep them from suffering from anxiey disorder when their owners are gone. With how independent they are, they are also very gentle and are not prone to lash out at fair families. Huskys live social lives and love to talk, although they usually do not bark, they enjoy howling back to your words. If you need to start exercising, a husky is surely an excellent motivational tool, they love the outdoors and lead active lives and need to be exercised. They are not usually trained to be vicious so they will get along with other animals but they have been known to defend their owners if they are in honest distress. They live to be around 14 years old and they are enjoyable throughout their entire life.
